Friday's SMACKDOWN Opened With Jeff Hardy Being Arrested...For Drink Driving

Friday night's episode of SmackDown opened with Renee Young outside the WWE Performance Center as it was revealed that Elias had been hit by a car. A "police officer" attending the scene then revealed that the rental car is Jeff Hardy's, and while all this is happening, Kayla Braxton spoke to Universal Champion Braun Strowman who said that he saw someone run away after mowing down Elias.

As Hardy was shown struggling to get off the ground, an officer asked Hardy if he'd been drinking, and after smelling some empty beer bottles in the aforementioned car, a confused and angry Jeff is arrested for drink driving.

It's no secret that Hardy has had his fair share of DUIs in real-life, and WWE has been mentioning that a lot in recent weeks. However, it doesn't really feel all that difficult to figure out what really happened here. Sheamus probably took Hardy out, while King Corbin drove that car into Elias as they've been feuding for weeks.

For them, setting Hardy up was a case of killing two birds with one stone...and, well, this is a pretty weird storyline. However, don't be surprised if we end up seeing a tag team match with these four at the Backlash PPV...
