Drew McIntyre gave it a good try, but he failed to regain the WWE Championship during his match with Bobby Lashley at Hell in a Cell last night (read the full results here). McIntyre lost the title at WrestleMania, but failed to regain it at WrestleMania Backlash; heading into last night's PPV, the stipulation was that if he couldn't defeat Lashley, he wouldn't be allowed to challenge him again.

McIntyre will now have to move on to different things, but he won't soon forget this rivalry.

As you can see below, McIntyre picked up some nasty bruises inside the Hell in a Cell. That's no great surprise, though, especially when the cage frequently came into play, as did tables and chairs.

"It’s been a wild ride. I’ve always wanted to make all of you proud, and I hoped that you would get the chance to see me live and in person as WWE Champion," the RAW Superstar says in the Tweet below. "Looks like that dream is on hold for awhile. Thanks for all your support."
