HELL IN A CELL: Roman Reigns Vs. Rey Mysterio Will Now Take Place During TONIGHT's Episode Of SMACKDOWN

In what appears to be a blatant attempt to increase SmackDown's ratings, it's been confirmed that Roman Reigns will defend his Universal Championship against Rey Mysterio inside a Hell in a Cell...tonight!

Yesterday, we brought you news on how WWE plans to improve ratings over the coming weeks and months as they start welcoming fans back to shows. Now, with Hell in a Cell just 48 hours away, a top match has been pulled from the PPV and will instead take place on SmackDown.

As you can see below, Rey Mysterio will challenge Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship inside Hell in a Cell during tonight's episode of SmackDown

It's unclear whether this is some sort of bait and switch, but it's hard to imagine Reigns not competing or appearing at Hell in a Cell in some capacity. Either way, WWE clearly hopes to do a big rating on SmackDown this week, and there's no denying that the show just got a lot more exciting.

Check out how the match came to be in the series of Tweets below:
