RAW ratings have been on the decline for a while now, but last Monday's instalment of WWE's flagship show was the lowest number it's ever drawn. However, while you might think Vince McMahon is probably losing his mind, a report from the folks over at WrestlingNews.co indicates otherwise.
Apparently, the WWE Chairman is convinced that viewership numbers will increase to over 2 million viewers following the SummerSlam PPV as he believes fans will be back at shows by September.
"Vince is doing what he can by putting on PPV matches on Raw and SmackDown but USA and Fox are happy and everyone knows things will get better when we can get some people back at arenas," the site's source tells them. "This is what he thinks right now and he’s not sweating these numbers."
This is definitely a surprise and it honestly seems a tad naive as it's hard to imagine viewers suddenly tuning in again just because the shows have crowds again. After all, these past few weeks have seen development talent and their friends and family used as a makeshift audience, and that certainly doesn't appear to have made any sort of difference.
Throw in the fact that football season is fast approaching, and it definitely appears as if RAW could be in serious trouble moving forward.
