Music is extremely important to the wrestling business regardless of whether we're talking about entrance themes or the tunes used in the promos which often air before PPV matches. For the better part of 30 years, Jim Johnston has been responsible for much of WWE's soundtrack but that's changed in recent years thanks to the hiring of CFO$, a.k.a. John Paul Alicastro and Michael Conrad Lauri.

Now, multiple outlets are claiming that Johnston has been released by WWE despite the fact he's penned the themes for everyone from Randy Orton to Brock Lesnar and Vince McMahon.

Those are some iconic tunes but it's CFO$'s work we most frequently hear these days as they're come up with memorable tunes for AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Bobby Roode. To be fair, it could be that Johnston wants to retire and that would be preferable to WWE putting him out to pasture because they're happier with the work of his predecessors. Either way, he'll be fondly remembered!
