Earlier this week, Jaxson Ryker (real name Chad Lail) came under fire for sending out a pro-Trump Tweet in the middle of the gassing of peaceful protesters, and shortly after that, a Facebook post from 2019 resurfaced which made his views on the #BlackLivesMatter movement abundantly clear.
Not too surprisingly, this led to a lot of backlash from WWE fans and some of his fellow Superstars, with even his own Forgotten Sons tag-team partners seemingly distancing themselves from Ryker's controversial posts.
There was speculation that this may lead to WWE taking some kind of action, but in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer mentions that the higher-ups feel they can't fire Ryker for sharing his shitty opinion. However, that doesn't mean he's going to have a very pleasant time of things in the SmackDown locker room.
“According to one person high up in the company, the belief is that Lail can’t be fired for expressing freedom of speech, but that the locker room is fuming at him.”
If a push was planned for Ryker and the Forgotten Sons, this is unlikely to throw anything off course. They are a heel team, after all, and Vince McMahon - who ultimately makes those kind of decisions - is a Trump supporter. That said, the old wrestling expression "the boys shall police themselves" comes to mind here.
If nobody is willing to work with Ryker... well, he can't have a match with himself!
