Sports Illustrated recently caught up with MVP to discuss his surprise WWE return and how what was supposed to be a one-off appearance turned into him becoming a regular part of RAW. As you may recall, he was a surprise entrant in this year's Royal Rumble, and appeared the next night for a "final" match against Rey Mysterio.
Clearly, he drew a decent rating as he returned in the weeks that followed, and after initially signing on as a backstage producer, Vince McMahon decided he was better off in front of the camera.
Asked about his relationship with the WWE Chairman, MVP said: "That’s an interesting question. Vince is very demanding. I’ve always said this about Vince–he’s hard, but he’s fair, with me, for sure." He went on to talk about being pulled aside by McMahon during his initial run, and explained how that helped him develop a working relationship with the boss.
"Coming back now, I understand what Vince wants and how he wants it. And Vince is a perfectionist," MVP explained. "Good enough is not good enough for Vince. His influence has been huge. I’m a go-getter, and I want to be involved with the segments I’m in, and I want to make sure that I’m on the same page with the other talent so that your viewing experience on Monday Night Raw is the best that it can possibly can. Those are things I learned from Vince."
Now, MVP is part of the Hurt Business faction on RAW, and it looks like he will continue to be a huge part of the show moving forward.
