Believe it or not, Drew McIntyre is the first British/Scottish wrestler to hold the WWE Championship and, as you might expect, he's proud to be representing his country.
During a recent interview with the BBC, McIntyre - who defeated Brock Lesnar for the title and then defended it twenty minutes later against a returning Big Show - expressed a desire to bring a future WWE PPV back to the UK (the last major one to be held there was SummerSlam in 2002).
"When everything starts resuming back to normal and I get the chance to come back to the UK, I want to bring this title back," he said. "I want to get an open top bus and drive from the top of Scotland to the bottom of England and just promote WWE like crazy. I’m going to make it happen. I made this happen – becoming the first-ever British champion – so I’ll make the pay-per-view happen too."
WWE was scheduled to return to the UK this May during its regular European tour, but that's highly unlikely to happen due to concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic which have put the country on lockdown for the foreseeable future.
With any luck, though, McIntyre will eventually get the chance to bring his newly won title back home!
