Noelle Foley is the daughter of WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley, and she once planned on following in his footsteps by becoming a pro wrestler. That was briefly documented in WWE Network series Holy Foley, but a series of injuries seemingly brought an end to her in-ring aspirations.
Later, we'd learn that Noelle is suffering from a serious concussion, though that isn't a result of her training at the WWE Performance Center or at the New York Wrestling Connection in Long Island.
Instead, it came after she repeatedly banged her head on a rollercoaster (Noelle details her experience with Post-Concussion Syndrome here). We don't know whether the injuries she suffered in the ring were also concussion-related, but Noelle has now revealed some of the aftermath.
"[In] February I was clinically diagnosed with a rare hearing disorder, known as Hyperacusis," she explains in the Tweet below. "Hyperacusis is when you have an extremely low tolerance for noise and most sounds are physically painful...It’s recently been severely affecting my every day life from grocery shopping, driving, restaurants, and even just being around people, including my family."
"I don’t share too much of my struggles here on social media, but between my Post Concussion Syndrome and my Hyperacusis, it has been a real struggle, both physically and mentally," Noelle adds. "On top of my Hyperacusis, I also struggle with Tinnitus (Pulsatile), Phonophobia, and Misophonia."
Needless to say, we wish Noelle a speedy recovery, and hope this is something that improves moving forward. For now, she's taking part in a study that she hopes will help others with the condition.
