Omos Vacates The GHC Tag Team Titles At NOAH SUNNY VOYAGE 2025

After winning the prestigious belt in Japan earlier this year, Omos has voluntarily vacated the GHC Tag Team titles in order to return to the WWE.

Omos is no longer 1/2 of the GHC Tag Team Champion.

Just when it seemed that the big man would conquer Japan and Pro Wrestling NOAH, the WWE star relinquished his title because Omos claims that he’ll be returning to WWE.

With the Royal Rumble Saturday, it likely means that Omos is scheduled to make an appearance at the big event, though nothing has been confirmed. Even then, Omos could’ve kept the belts if the company didn’t have plans for him beyond the Rumble.

Does this mean that Omos will be making a full time comeback to WWE? We’ll just have to wait and see. In terms of his time in Japan, Omos had eight matches in Pro Wrestling NOAH and only defended the GHC Tag Team titles once.

However, Pro Wrestling NOAH officials aren’t onboard with Omos’ plan. While the freebird rule is well known in wrestling, Omos and Jack Morris won the tag titles, and since the WWE star didn’t discuss his plans about vacating the belt to DAGA, officials will not recognize the transfer. That means the GHC Tag Team Championships are vacated. Pro Wrestling NOAH released a statement on those belts.

Regarding the GHC Tag Team Championship

On January 25th, at the GHC Tag Championship match held at the Edion Arena Osaka 2nd Stadium, the champions Jack Morris and Omos successfully defended their titles.

At that time, Omos handed over the GHC Tag Team Championship belts to Daga, but this transfer of the titles will not be recognized and the titles will once again be vacant.

Has Omos gotten better during his time in Japan? At this moment, it’s hard to say. Omos only worked tag team matches that didn’t particularly give a strong sign on whether he’s improved in the ring or not. The last time Omos was in a WWE ring was during the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal on Smackdown.

Since then, the 7’3 giant was sitting on the sidelines, but not due to injury. It was never confirmed why Omos was off WWE programming, with many chalking up his absence as Triple H simply not having anything for the big guy. I’m interested to see how Omos is treated and how much he has improved in the ring. It’s clear that WWE sees value in the giant, which is why he’s escaped a couple of releases. Maybe they'll be able to finally do something with Omos if he can hold his own between the ropes.
