Raw and SmackDown - and even NXT to a lesser extent - have been heavily criticized for being directionless and disorganized for a while now, but this week's episode of the red brand seemed even more all over the place than usual.
Well, that might be because only two segments on the show were planned out ahead of time!
According to Dave Meltzer on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, only the Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre face-off and Shane McMahon hosting Raw Underground were fully laid out when the show kicked off, with everything else thrown together at the last minute. While the latter proved to be divisive, it was undeniably well executed, and the McIntyre/Orton segment was easily the highlight of the show.
Imagine that!
We've been trying to cut WWE some slack because it can't be easy to put a show together amid the ongoing pandemic, but some of the creative decisions we've seen of late are hard to excuse. Vince McMahon needs to stop treating fans like morons by aiming for temporary rating spikes and put some time and effort into giving us long-term, well though-out feuds and angles we can actually get invested in.
What do you guys think? Are we being too harsh? Drop us a comment in the usual place.
