Roman Reigns is the current Universal Champion and the face of SmackDown as the show's top heel. Recently, The Big Dog has been feuding with his real-life cousin Jey Uso, a storyline fans have responded well to. The original plan was for them to have a one-off match, but it's been extended and a rematch will take place at Hell in a Cell.
During that PPV, they'll face off in an "I Quit" Hell in a Cell match, and Reigns has now opened up about why he thinks this is a storyline that's really resonated with fans.
"I’ve taken these real-life qualities and experiences and put them in a storyline," he started. "That has been able to connect with our audience in a really cool way because they’ve seen me grow and they’ve seen my path and they’ve seen me operate on this top tier of WWE for a long time."
"For me to actually emote and explain the dimensions of it, I think they dig that and the feeling that the fourth wall is down from time to time," Reigns continued. "To me, this is Roman. He’s not Joe. I’m able to connect to everything I’m doing now way stronger than anything I’ve done before."
While it's hard to imagine Reigns dropping the title at Hell in a Cell, this is definitely an interesting feud, and one that should help set up fresh stories heading into the New Year. We know that Goldberg has his eye on the Big Dog's title, so it won't be at all surprising for him to return at some point as well.
