Roman Reigns' imapctful return at SummerSlam was the talk of the pro-wrestling world, and fans are still debating whether we actually witnessed a full-on heel turn when he attacked Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt post-match.
The Big Dog's association with Paul Heyman would certainly seem to suggest that he has turned, but until he jumps an established babyface and beats the crap out of them, we remain unconvinced.
One thing that can't be argued with is the new Universal Champion's more aggressive attitude, and according to Dave Meltzer on the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Reigns himself pushed hard for the more badass "heel" person upon his return.
“It’s not known whether it was Reigns or McMahon who made the call to put Heyman with Reigns," said Meltzer. "But Reigns did ask to be turned heel on his return after being out of action since March due to concerns over COVID-19.”
We should get a clearer picture of Roman's character later tonight on SmackDown, as a 4-way match involving King Corbin, Matt Riddle, Big E and Sheamus will determine his first challenger for the Universal Title at Clash of Champions. If he spears E out of his boots, it's probably safe to say he's a heel!
