WWE released another wave of wrestlers yesterday, and there were plenty of big names among those fired by the company. That included Braun Strowman, Aleister Black, and Ruby Riott.
The latter was a surprise as she's unlike anyone else in the company's women's division, and there were originally plans for her and Liv Morgan to compete for the Women's Tag Team Championships on "Night 2" of WrestleMania. Natalya and Tamina replaced them and lost...only to win the titles several weeks later (which we're guessing was the original plan for Riott and Morgan).
Now, the former Riott Squad leader has become the latest Superstar to open up on her release.
"Yesterday in a matter of minutes, my life changed very drastically," she says in the Instagram post below. "But after some tears, some panic and a full box of Oreos, I was able look back at how lucky I’ve been to accomplish what have. I never thought I’d make it to WWE. I’ve been honored to be apart of a Squad of the most incredible women I’ve ever met, I’ve gotten to see the world, share locker rooms with some of the most talented women I know, some of which I’ve made lifelong friendships with."
"I don’t know what I’ll be called or where I’ll end up," she added. "But please know this is far from over. Thank you."
Riott joined WWE in 2016 and competed in NXT before being moved to the main roster the next year. She's never held championship gold, but was well-liked backstage.
