Despite the fact that John Cena's feud with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson largely revolved around the leader of the Cenation tearing into the Hollywood A-Lister for leaving WWE behind to become an actor, that's exactly what Cena has done.
Despite appearing at WrestleMania for that incredible Firefly Funhouse match, Cena makes fewer appearances these days than The Undertaker, and no one was overly surprising when a rumour - which reportedly hailed from Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter - started doing the rounds claiming that Cena's contract had expired and that he was free to start wrestling for another company.
Before you start getting too excited about the prospect of Cena competing in All Elite Wrestling, though, it's now been confirmed that the rumour was false and Meltzer never actually reported this. The Suicide Squad star has even said that he doesn't see himself wrestling for anyone else, so that really is the end of that.
Throw in the fact that insurance issues make an in-ring return unlikely while Cena is working on various film and television projects, and it's entirely feasible that the Firefly Funhouse match was supposed to be his retirement bout...well, for now at least.
What do you guys think?
