After Brie Bella mentioned that Daniel Bryan would be going into self-isolation for three weeks following WrestleMania before returning home due to COVID-19 and the leader of the Yes Movement recently admitting that he's booked six weeks off over the summer for paternity leave, it never seemed overly likely that he would win the Intercontinental Championship at the Show of Shows.
Unfortunately, that proved to be the case this evening after Sami Zayn retained his title. After initially running from his opponent, Drew Gulak took out Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura to ensure that Bryan could get his hands on Zayn. What followed was an absolute mauling, but when Zayn's friends returned to attack Gulak, things took a bad turn for Bryan.
Distracted by what was happening on the outside, Bryan flew straight into a Helluva Kick and Zayn picked up a pinfall victory. Now, the loudmouth Superstar can boast about his first singles victory on the Grandest Stage of Them All as well as a big win over the leader of the Yes Movement.
