Sami Zayn Comments On WWE Stripping Him Of The Intercontinental Championship

Earlier today, WWE announced that Sami Zayn would be stripped of the Intercontinental Championship due to him being unable or unwilling to defend it, and the Underdog from the Underground has now responded.

Sami Zayn is no longer the Intercontinental Champion after being stripped of the title earlier today. A Tournament will now be held to crown a new champion.

WWE didn't go into detail on why Zayn was forced the drop the title, but it's believed to be down to the Canadian Superstar not wanting to work during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. Whatever the reason, The Underdog from the Underground is not best pleased.

Here's the Tweet Sami set out today in response to the news.

Of course, Zayn is most likely playing up his heel persona here, but that doesn't mean he's not genuinely annoyed about the situation. After all, Andrade was allowed to hold on to the United States Championship for almost two months when he was suspended for a wellness policy violation, but Sami is being stripped of his title for deciding to be responsible and stay as safe as possible during a pandemic?

Seems a little unfair to us. Then again, it may all be part of a bigger angle WWE has planned... we'll just have to wait and see how this tournamnet plays out.
