What a way to start the show, eh? Clearly anxious to top their previous matches and what happened at NXT TakeOver Brooklyn IV the night before, Seth Rollins and Dolph Ziggler brought their A-Game to SummerSlam last night for an opening match which was arguably the best bout of the entire weekend.
While there were a lot of teases that Drew McIntyre would interfere to cost Rollins the match, Dean Ambrose managed to hold him off and Rollins ultimately got the 1-2-3 with a superkick/Curb Stomp combo. However, the clear highlight of this match came when the new Intercontinental Champion hit a reverse Falcon's Arrow on his opponent which resulted in a standing ovation from fans.
Rollins was busted open in the match but it wasn't anything too major and the Lunatic Fringe's rumoured heel turn never came. What did you think of this opening SummerSlam match? Share your thoughts in the comments section below and stay tuned for further updates on the show throughout the day.
