TalkSport's Alex McCarthy recently spoke to former Universal Champion Seth Rollins, and he was quick to assure fans that it's still WWE's plan to build new stars. In recent years, the company has come under fire for focusing too much on names from the past, and when Paul Heyman was RAW's Executive Director, he wanted to build those future stars.
Unfortunately, he was removed from that position by WWE Chairman Vince McMahon due to RAW's declining ratings (which are still falling). Since Heyman's removal, we've seen the likes of Ric Flair, The Big Show, and Christian all brought back to Monday nights, while Randy Orton and Dolph Ziggler - two veteran Superstars - have been a focal point of the show's storylines.
"Well, first of all, I think the emphasis is still on building stars for the future," Rollins said. "Particularly during this time when there’s a lot of performers who are either opting out for their own safety or they are people that are getting sick here and there, so we’re missing a lot of our top-tier talent due to various circumstances."
"But the emphasis is still certainly on building future stars and I don’t want Paul Heyman’s departure to be a reason why anybody thinks that that’s not the case, because it definitely is the case."
Rollins is very much a company man, and aside from the odd name, it's hard to say who these future stars could be.
What do you guys think?
