Shawn Michaels recently spoke with ESPN looking back at some of The Undertaker's most iconic moments in WWE. As you might expect, the subject of his retirement match against the Deadman at WrestleMania in 2010 came up, as did the fact he "un-retired" at Crown Jewel in 2018 for a tag team match in Saudi Arabia which saw him team up with Triple H to battle The Undertaker and Kane.
It wasn't well-received, and many fans wished he hadn't returned after such a perfect ending to his in-ring career. "It sucked from the standpoint of Hunter getting hurt, of it not going well, of it not being received well," HBK admitted. "All of the negatives that were there. When we were in there, you knew the wheels were falling off."
"None of it bothered me," he continued. "I went into the whole thing looking at it very selfishly, I guess. For me, it was more about being out there with those guys, and me being there with Hunter, which was something I didn’t get to do near the end."
Michaels did add that he was happy to be part of a match with Superstars he respects, and added: "I look at that match as it stands on its island, alone. I don’t associate it with anything regarding the career of Shawn Michaels. I’m able to compartmentalize that."
In other words, he doesn't count it...and we probably shouldn't either!
