During Sunday night's instalment of Undertaker: The Last Ride on the WWE Network, the legendary wrestler admitted that he was envious of the way Shawn Michaels was able to retire from in-ring competition after their WrestleMania match in 2010. Now, HBK has responded to that, and explained that he didn't understand the gravity of his decision at the time.
However, watching this documentary has seemingly changed his outlook. "It was a sign of him, a vulnerability that nobody knows about. I understood that because he was only doing, I don’t mean only, but he was already just doing one a year at that time in a very limited schedule. Most people really enjoy doing that and can do that for quite some time. I understood the comment."
"I was struck by the tone of it," he continued. "It wasn’t until much later that I sort of grasped that."
While Michaels has always known the man behind The Undertaker, but is still surprised to see him show that side to the world at large. "I didn’t know he was gonna come out publicly, so to speak, in that way because it takes a lot of vulnerability man and not everybody wants to go there in this line of work. Once he did, that’s when you go like, “Oh! Oh d**n! It’s a real issue and I understand it and appreciate it."
What are your thoughts on these comments from Michaels?
