Shinsuke Nakamura Attacks Cody Rhodes At WWE Live Event; Stipulation Match Confirmed For RAW Tonight

The hits keep coming for Cody Rhodes because he was attacked by Shinsuke Nakamura at a WWE Live event this past weekend, setting the stage for them to go head-to-head on RAW...again. Read on for details!

#WeWantCody has trended all weekend after WWE's shocking decision to have him give up his match with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania during Friday night's SmackDown

Now, The Rock is on track to battle his cousin for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship on the Grandest Stage of Them All. The move has been met with an overwhelmingly negative response, as has the fact Rhodes will now likely challenge Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship (a title he's repeatedly expressed a lack of interest in holding).

It's unclear how, or even if, WWE will address Rhodes' decision and the backlash on RAW tonight but we now know he'll be competing on the show.

At a non-televised live event over the weekend, the American Nightmare was attacked by his old rival, Shinsuke Nakamura, when the King of Strong Style sprayed some of his patented mist in the popular babyface's eyes.

Since then, RAW General Manager Adam Pearce has announced that Rhodes and Nakamura will square off in a Bullrope match.

"Ladies and gentlemen, Adam Pearce coming to you tonight from Chicago where I'm between flights to bring you this breaking news regarding tomorrow night's 'Raw' from St. Louis," he says in the video below. "By now I'm sure you've seen the footage that took place last night in Knoxville between Cody Rhodes and Shinsuke Nakamura."

"As a result of the footage and in speaking to both parties, I'm sanctioning a one-on-one contest tomorrow night live on 'RAW,' Cody Rhodes vs. Shinsuke Nakamura. But, per Cody's request, this is going to be a bullrope match."

We're not sure why WWE is revisiting a rivalry which has already played out over a series of matches, but it could be to give Rhodes a win after the humiliating experience he was put through on Friday night. The bout may also distract from what's happened this weekend, though it will be down to the crowd in attendance to hijack the show if they truly want to see Cody main event WrestleMania in place of the man who has only returned because Black Adam and the XFL bombed.
