During last night's episode of RAW, WWE started laying the groundwork for the breakup of The Miz and John Morrison. The latter wasn't happy upon learning that the A-Lister was actually cleared several weeks ago, while The Miz would later get annoyed that Morrison walked out on him during a match.
However, while it may look like the writing is on the wall for these two, it appears this is a storyline WWE plans to take a slow-burn approach to.
Talking on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez pointed out how Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods could be seen in the background while Miz and Morrison were talking. As it happens, this was meant as foreshadowing for an upcoming feud.
"That is the program that they’re going to," Meltzer explained. "They were running around in the back. Miz and Morrison were doing the promo and Kofi and Xavier are behind them and it’s supposed to be like, 'Oh, they got caught on camera when they were hanging around. They had a thing up that said ‘Buy our shirts’ and things like that. It’s like the beginning of something, yeah."
As the opening salvo of storylines go, this is pretty underwhelming. Still, a few weeks of feuding with The New Day would give Kingston and Woods something to do, all while giving WWE a good opportunity to actually split Miz and Morrison up as they likely continue butting heads.
Fans have been saying from the start that Morrison deserves a single run, so the sooner he's able to break out on his own, the better. As always, we'll be sure to keep you updated.
