Despite a lot of wrestling fans not wanting a watered down, pre-taped version of WrestleMania to take place from the WWE Performance Center this weekend, WWE has pushed forward with the show which is (in their words) "too big for one night."
During a recent interview, Stephenie McMahon was asked if WWE came close to pulling the plug on the Showcase of the Immortals, and it sounds like it was something they did briefly consider.
"It was, actually, because this is an unprecedented time," she admitted. "We all have been day-to-day really looking at all of this. Ultimately, as brands and leagues and companies are reinventing themselves, it’s important to stay true to your mission."
There's a lot of PR-type speak there, but we've heard rumblings that Vince McMahon was determined that WrestleMania should happen, hence why it moved from the massive Raymond James Stadium to the empty WWE performance Center.
"This is not something where we’re just being bullheaded and moving forward," McMahon added. "This is a concerted, very thought-through effort to entertain our fans with our biggest show of the year. It won’t feel and look like our biggest show of the year, but certainly from a content standpoint and a match standpoint, we’re trying to deliver."
What do you guys think about the decision to move forward with WrestleMania?
