During Friday night's episode of SmackDown, Summer Rae (real name Danielle Moinet) was introduced as a "WWE Legend" by announcers. Her run with the company wasn't a particularly memorable one, and Rae primarily served as a valet in romance storylines with Dolph Ziggler and Fandango.
Calling her a "Legend" may be a stretch, but there's been an unnecessarily harsh response on social media over the weekend. Many fans decided to post negative comments about Rae and her contributions to the wrestling business, and while she initially responded by saying it was WWE's decision to refer to her that way, the former Superstar has now hit back at trolls on social media.
It's a great statement and one that gives those fans attacking Rae some real food for thought.
Rae will compete in the Royal Rumble this weekend, and it is a shame her return to WWE (even if it is a one-off) has now been marred with such negativity over typical, meaningless WWE terminology!
