WWE has rarely acknowledged a talent signing a new deal, but we're in the Triple H Era now and things are different.

That's evident from a recent social media post by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson which saw him announce that Drew McIntyre has signed a new multi-year deal with the company. In the video, the former World Heavyweight Champion is presented with a Scottish claymore sword to congratulate him.

Speculation has run rampant for the better part of a year regarding McIntyre's contract and, during this latest run, he's re-cemented himself as a top star in the company and likely been rewarded handsomely for it.

"Man of my word. As you’re a man of yours," The Rock posted. "Congratulations [Drew McIntyre] on signing your new [WWE] deal. As we talked about after your [WrestleMania] match, I know this Scottish Claymore represents everything that you, your family and your country embody."

"As you know, I wanted to personally hand deliver this gift to you at your meeting with Nick Khan, but I had warm cheat meals and chilled tequila waiting for me," he continued. "Congrats again brother and cheers to hunger, passion, climbing that mountain and always entertaining our fans."

Fightful has since chimed in to reveal that McIntyre's contract was about to expire, but he and WWE negotiated a "multi-year, big money deal." More renewals are expected to be announced soon and we'd bet on more splashy announcements.

Rumour has it the Scottish Superstar is signed for at least three years, meaning his contract will end in 2027 (which will mark 10 years since he returned to WWE as part of the NXT brand after hitting the independent scene to completely reinvent himself).

"When it comes to The Rock, it’s amazing he has such a passion for our business still," McIntyre said earlier this year. "It’s in his blood and inevitably he became one of the biggest stars of all time in our industry and then the biggest star on planet earth - and he still wants to come back to wrestling."

"It can only be a good thing because it brings so many extra eyeballs and those people become new fans - maybe they came for The Rock and stayed for Drew McIntyre," he continued. "I spoke to him and thanked him for putting me over in a TMZ interview."

"It gave me a kick in the butt. When someone like The Rock believes in you, it’s pretty cool. The first chance we got, I thanked him for that privately and he was appreciative of that too. He’s remained down to earth and he’s very smart when it comes to business, and I’m very fortunate to be able to pick his brain."
