Triple H was recently a guest on "The Gorilla Position" podcast, and the WWE Hall of Famer and Executive Vice President of Global Talent Strategy & Development was asked about WWE's decision to continue taping shows during the COVID-19 pandemic.
All Elite Wrestling has done the same, of course, and both companies have come under fire for putting talent at risk. Triple H, though, is just glad they've been able to find a way to entertain fans in these times.
"For us, it’s been great to be able to put a product out there no matter what. I think people need some entertainment and some relief and stop watching the news and everything else and we have been able to do that," he explains. "But, the truth is, we do what we do because of the fans and because of their passion for what we do and their reactions. We have been the true interactive television show on TV and always have been. That’s been the fan base and their participation on the shows have been as big a part of it as anything."
"Not having them there has been a big void," he added. "I know we can’t wait for their return. I think everybody will be excited when the world can get back to normal."
WWE shows will benefit from fans being back in buildings, but the hope is the company won't rush things, especially with COVID-19 cases in the United States spiking in recent weeks.
