In this week's Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer revealed that plans for a number of wrestlers have been dropped. Prior to Apollo Crews winning the United States Championship from Andrade, a heel turn was discussed, but that's been dropped now he's picked up the title.
However, the biggest change is that Vince McMahon has decided against using the United States Championship to elevate Superstars like Cedric Alexander, Humberto Carrillo, and Ricochet. The hope is that they would have become high card babyfaces, but McMahon has cooled on the trio, and this more than likely has something to do with AJ Styles' move to SmackDown.
Previously, it was reported that the Phenomenal One would be used over the summer to help put over up and coming Superstars like those mentioned above.
There's no specific word on why these plans were dropped, as RAW Executive Director Paul Heyman is said to be high on all of them. Ultimately, it's McMahon's decision, and it's obviously going to be very interesting seeing how he handles Crew moving forward, as he's another Superstar who has received stop and start pushes from the company over the past few years.
