There's a lot of unhappiness in WWE right now as Wrestling Inc. (and a number of other reliable sources) has confirmed that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon has ordered the company's Superstars not to "engage with outside third parties." That mean they can no longer use platforms like Cameo and Twitch, and it's possible YouTube will also be included.
In recent years, we've seen WWE Superstars given a lot more freedom to earn money outside WWE and give fans the chance to get to know them outside of their on-screen personas.
Often, it's the lesser known stars who earn themselves some extra money or use these platforms to increase their profiles, but McMahon now believes that the WWE brand should be protected and has given talent 30 days to stop engaging with them.
"Some of you are engaged with outside third parties using your name and likeness in ways that are detrimental to our company," McMahon wrote in a letter to Superstars. "It is imperative that these activities be terminated within the next 30 days (by Friday October 2). Continued violations will result in fines, suspension, or termination at WWE’s discretion."
It was also said that WWE is in the midst of a rebuilding process and that the company is about to "enter the next phase of growth at WWE."
Ultimately, this feel like yet another way for the out of touch Chairman to control his "independent contractors," and the likes of Xavier Woods - who runs a successful YouTube channel - might start realising that there are much better places to work in the wrestling world.
