Just in case it wasn't already abundantly clear, Vince McMahon is, to be blunt, off his [frick]ing rocker.
We've heard numerous stories about wrestlers having to deal with Vince's bizarre behavior over the years, and more than a few suffered major career setbacks simply because he took a disliking to them - often for no reason whatsoever.
It seems this was also the case for former NXT Tag-Team Champions The Ascension, who never made much of an impact when they were called up to Raw. Why? Well, your main roster run is never going to get off to the best start when the commentary team has been told to bury you during your debut match!
Here's what former WWE agent and Hall of Fammer Arn Anderson has to say on the latest episode of his podcast.
"Why would you take any character that is on our show that the company professes to being the number one wrestling company, or the number one sports entertainment company in the entire world, and put them on our TV show with valuable TV time and bury them, have the announcers bury them?”
Why indeed. The Enforcer went on to confirm that even the smallest character detail must be approved by McMahon before making it to TV.
"Sure. Everything character-wise passes by the big chair [Vince McMahon]. If it’s the last place they go, it goes by the big chair for approval. Make no mistake, characters, angles, you name it."
McMahon may have been able to get away with this type of nonsense when business was booming, but with ratings now plummeting across the board, the boss is going to have to reevaluate his approach - and treating your talent and audience with a bit more respect is a good place to start.
