WWE 2K BATTLEGROUNDS Release Has Reportedly Led To Some Superstars Receiving Huge Bonuses

WWE 2K Battlegrounds hasn't exactly received rave reviews, but it sounds like some WWE Superstars have definitely benefited from the release of the game, as some big bonuses have been paid out recently...

WWE 2K Battlegrounds was released last month on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows PC, Nintendo Switch, and Stadia, but the reviews haven't been great. The decision was made to take a year off from the main series after WWE 2K20 was plagued with bugs, glitches, and generally just a terrible game.

Despite that, this arcade-style title has appealed to a lot of wrestling fans, and it seems a number of WWE Superstars have benefited in recent weeks.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select claims that one big name WWE Superstar receive a very large bonus for their involvement in WWE 2K Battlegrounds, with one said to be as much as $35,000. This is quite the surprise, as it's no secret that wrestlers mostly stopped receiving big royalty cheques ever since THQ passed the franchise on to 2K Games.

Unfortunately, there are some Superstars who have been told that while their characters are set to be included as DLC down the line, they won't receive a royalty bonus because they don't have main roster contracts.

That sounds about right for WWE, and it's a shame that while some wrestlers are being rewarded for their work, a lot of others clearly aren't getting that same treatment.
