WWE is clearly doing everything within its power to keep news on how COVID-19 has spread throughout the Performance Center quiet, and PW Insider's Mike Johnson recently reported that positive tests could be upwards of "two dozen" at this stage. WrestlingNews.co, meanwhile, notes that reports of it being upwards of thirty are exaggerated (which is good news).
Regardless, WWE hasn't made masks mandatory, and WWE Chairman Vince McMahon reportedly remains intent on being the "first" sporting organisation to bring fans back into buildings. The company is even planning to hold live shows at the end of July, and Bryan Alvarez has explained that his sources have told him that Vince is under the impression that the virus is basically a bad case of the flu, and not as bad as most perceive it to be.
"Vince McMahon has never said anything publicly about what he thinks about the coronavirus. He’s never said anything publicly. I have heard from multiple sources that Vince does not think that this is all that bad," Alvarez notes. "I hesitate to even say that. I’m not sitting here saying that he outright thinks it's a hoax or whatever."
This likely explains McMahon's attitude towards COVID-19, and Alvarez continued by saying, "there’s a lot of people in this country that still believe, at worst, it’s a bad flu. The impression that I have been given from people within the company is that’s Vince’s mindset."
