WWE Confirms That SUMMERSLAM Will NOT Be Taking Place In Boston As Planned Next Month

It's no secret that Vince McMahon was hoping SummerSlam would be a show that brings fans back into arenas, but WWE has now finally confirmed that the event will not take place in Boston as planned next month.

It's been officially confirmed that this year's SummerSlam PPV will not be taking place at the TD Garden in Boston as planned. As you might expect, it's due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and it's been obvious for a while that WWE would be unable to have fans attend this event given the current climate.

No new location has been announced, but it's obvious SummerSlam will still happen, with the most likely venue being the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.

"In coordination with our local partners, government officials and TD Garden, WWE’s SummerSlam and related events will no longer take place in Boston," the statement reads. "Refunds are available at the original point of purchase. We are grateful to the city of Boston for their longstanding partnership and look forward to holding WWE events at TD Garden in the future."

"SummerSlam will stream live on Sunday, August 23, at 7 p.m. ET on WWE Network, and information regarding a new location for the event is forthcoming."

This isn't what Vince McMahon had planned, of course, and the hope was things would be back to normal by now (hence why there was once chatter about the WWE Hall of Fame being held over this weekend). As always, we'll be sure to keep you guys updated with the latest information.
