Yesterday, Tampa city officials confirmed that
WrestleMania is still taking place as planned despite concerns over the spread of the Coronavirus. That could change in the weeks to come depending on what happens, and WWE has now confirmed that they have "contingency plans" should the plug be pulled on the Show of Shows.
"While we remain committed to hosting WrestleMania at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday, April 5, we are putting contingency plans in place in the event that it is cancelled by government officials, civil authorities and/or local venues," the statement from the company reads.
"The health and safety of our fans, performers and employees are our top priorities and we are monitoring the situation closely with our partners and government officials in Tampa Bay."
WrestleMania taking place in the WWE Performance Center in front of no fans would be pretty terrible, but it's better than nothing (and could be the norm for WWE events moving forward as large gatherings continue to be prohibited by state officials across the United States).
