Confirming last night's reports, WWE has revealed that a developmental talent did indeed test positive for COVID-19, necessitating that everyone on-site be tested immediately as a precaution.
The company released an official statement via WWE’s Associate Medical Director, Dr. Jeffrey Dugas:
“A developmental talent, who was last on site at WWE’s training facility on Tuesday, June 9, has tested positive for COVID-19. Since that time, no other individuals that attended the facility have reported symptoms. However, out of an abundance of caution and to ensure the health and safety of the company’s performers and staff, all talent, production crew and employees on site at the training and production facilities will be tested for COVID-19 immediately. Following the test results, WWE plans to proceed with its normal television production schedule.”
WWE recently began to use NXT and developmental Superstars as audience members for weekly shows and events, and actually allowed some fans into the Performance Center for the first time since the coronavirus outbreak this week on Raw. According to POST Wrestling, the tapings that were originally scheduled to take place at the PC tomorrow have been cancelled.
No word on which individual has tested positive, but a separate reports indicates that the person in question is a PC trainee, not someone on NXT TV.
