Adnan Virk was added to the RAW announce team in April, and despite working with experienced commentators Corey Graves and Byron Saxton, it's clear that he's not a good fit for WWE.
During his first few weeks on the job, Virk trended on Twitter for a series of botches, with bad calls, a clear lack of knowledge about the product, and obvious inexperience leading to fans turning on him. As a result, we're sure you won't be remotely surprised to learn that Virk has been released by WWE.
"WWE and Adnan Virk have mutually agreed to part ways," reads a brief statement shared on WWE.com. "WWE thanks Adnan for his work."
The key takeaway here is that this is a mutual agreement rather than a firing, and while that wording may have been used to protect Virk, chances are both parties realised it just wasn't working (some people just can't hack having Vince McMahon constantly barking at them in their ears too).
Best known for his work MLB Network, Virk was considered a sportscaster who could bring some legitimacy to WWE, but an impressive broadcasting résumé ultimately wasn't enough.
He was learning on the job, and that's not easy, but this feels like the right move. Who replaces him remains to be seen.
