FOX has big plans for
SmackDown Live once it moves to the network this October but things are about to get weird! Now, it's said that WWE is considering a bus tour similar to the Lex Express that travelled across America in 1993 in order to hype Lex Luger's match against Yokozuna at
SummerSlam.
"They are doing something where I guess they’re going to do the Lex Express modernized," Dave Meltzer explains. "Wrestlers will be in a moving truck going to different cities, big and small, and intermediate markets to promote starting on FOX in October."
"They are planning a digital primer where viewers can get a behind-the-scenes look at the product and to teach viewers inside wrestling terms."
Meltzer added that FOX wants to promote WWE as a legitimate sport and they're planning on airing a one-hour special this September in order to familiarise viewers with the company and "insider terms." Clearly, they're hoping that wrestling is going to be a big deal but it could be a struggle to attract viewers based on how highly criticised creative has been in recent months.
What are your thoughts on this bus tour?
