WWE Moves A Big Match From Tonight's EXTREME RULES PPV To Next Friday's Episode Of SMACKDOWN

WWE has decided to move the "Bar Fight" between Jeff Hardy and Sheamus from tonight's Extreme Rules PPV to next week's episode of SmackDown. Why? Well, ratings remain on the decline, so it's a necessary evil.

WWE has spent weeks building up the rematch between Jeff Hardy and Sheamus after their clash at Backlash, and the storyline has generated plenty of attention online after addressing many of Jeff's past issues with alcohol. That's why they were booked for a "Bar Fight" at Extreme Rules tonight, but Friday's episode of SmackDown confirmed an unexpected change.

During a backstage segment, the Celtic Warrior took Hardy out, and told him that he would see them for their match on next week's SmackDown

That confirms it won't be taking place at Extreme Rules as originally planned/believed, a surprising move considering how much TV time both Superstars have been receiving. However, there is also an explanation for the decision: like RAW, SmackDown's ratings are plummeting each week, and this is likely being done to boost interest in the blue brand.

This also explains why Randy Orton is facing The Big Show in an unsanctioned match on RAW as this past Monday's show broke a rating record...for the least watched edition of RAW ever. There was little in the way of competition too, so chances are when and if football returns, WWE is going to be in serious trouble.
