Preview & Predictions for WWE NXT:
On tap for tonight's episode, Cruz Montana goes one-on-one with DarkState's Dion Lennox following weeks of escalating hostility, including Lennox's backstage attack on Montana. The 2026 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic continues with two quarterfinal matches. The Creed Brothers, Julius Creed and Brutus Creed, face Hank Walker and Tank Ledger, while AAA World Tag Team Champions Los Wagner Brothers, El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. and Galeno, battle BirthRight members Lexis King and Charlie Dempsey. The Vanity Project's Jackson Drake, Ricky Smokes and Brad Baylor will also compete in a Six-Man Tag Team Match against EK Prosper, Mini Vikingo and Chazz "Starboy" Hall as the road to Halloween Havoc continues.
Prediction-wise, Montana and Lennox is the type of situation where you can flip a coin. Realistically, whoever wins will probably just lead to a gimmick match of sorts between the two at Halloween Havoc no matter what, so either Lennox cheats and Montana issues the challenge or Montana wins, Lennox (and possibly Osiris Griffin and Cutler James, though the rest of DarkState has been more absent lately) beats him up or something afterward, and they set up a "Trick or Street Fight" or something.
For the Dusty Cup, The Creed Brothers beating Hank and Tank is the surefire bet. Since that side of the bracket sets up Wagner and Galeno as the babyfaces to go up against the Creeds, I'd wager BirthRight comes up short and then costs Wagner and Galeno their future match against Brutus and Julius. The Vanity Project, meanwhile, should be victorious in their six-man tag, but I think a more likely outcome is that this is to set up EK Prosper getting a shot at Jackson Drake's North American Championship, so I'll say he picks up the victory for his team and they use that as a means to promote that future title opportunity.
Here are your results for WWE NXT - October 20, 2026:
- Tony D'Angelo opened the show by calling out NXT Champion Grayson Waller ahead of their match at Halloween Havoc. Waller brought up how D'Angelo was given opportunities early in their NXT careers while he had to work harder to earn his spot. D'Angelo accused Waller of hiding behind jokes and mind games, with both men insisting they would leave Halloween Havoc as NXT Champion.
- Earlier today, Izzi Dame continued targeting Zaria with reminders of her past in the women's locker room. Layla Diggs and Skylar Raye confronted Dame, with Diggs pointing out that she never received the Women's North American Championship opportunity she had previously earned. Dame insisted her problems with Zaria had nothing to do with the championship, and a match between Dame and Diggs was arranged for later in the show.
- BirthRight delivered a parking lot promo promising to defeat Los Wagner Brothers and win the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
- Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Quarterfinal Match: Los Wagner Brothers (El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. & Galeno) defeated BirthRight (Lexis King & Charlie Dempsey) by pinfall. Galeno pinned King following a frog splash. Zilla Fatu attacked BirthRight after the match, including hitting Dempsey with a Samoan drop.
- DarkState watched footage of Cruz Montana threatening Dion Lennox. Osiris Griffin and Cutler James expressed concern about Montana's intentions, but Lennox insisted he would push Montana back into the darker side of his personality.
- Kam Hendrix appeared in a vignette showcasing his athletic abilities and declaring himself the best all-around athlete in NXT.
- Tavion Heights addressed Myles Borne's betrayal and said he enjoyed watching Borne fail to become the number one contender for the NXT Championship. Borne attacked Heights, leading to a brawl that continued toward the parking lot as officials attempted to separate them.
- Chantel Monroe approached The Vanity Project backstage to ask whether they had watched her vignette, with Ricky Smokes attempting to flirt with her. The group then visited Robert Stone's office, where they learned their scheduled six-man tag team match was canceled because Mini Vikingo was not medically cleared. Stone also informed Jackson Drake that he would defend the NXT North American Championship against EK Prosper next week.
- Izzi Dame defeated Layla Diggs by pinfall. Zaria confronted Dame afterward and offered her a Women's North American Championship match at Halloween Havoc to put an end to her mind games. Dame accepted a match against Zaria but specifically declined to have the championship on the line.
- Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Quarterfinal Match: Hank and Tank (Hank Walker & Tank Ledger) defeated The Creed Brothers (Julius Creed & Brutus Creed) by pinfall. Tank pinned Julius following a double-team maneuver after Hank attacked Julius while the referee was distracted.
- BirthRight complained to Robert Stone backstage about Zilla Fatu's involvement in their match. Charlie Dempsey wanted to face Fatu, but Stone questioned whether Fatu was medically cleared to compete. Elsewhere, Wren Sinclair and Kendal Grey discussed the upcoming contract signing before Chantel Monroe interrupted to ask whether they had watched her vignette.
- Wren Sinclair called out NXT Women's Champion Kelani Jordan for their Halloween Havoc contract signing. Rather than sign the contract, Jordan appeared with a battered Kendal Grey, whom she had attacked backstage. Sinclair went to check on Grey, and the contract signing was left incomplete.
- Zilla Fatu met with Robert Stone and said he was ready to compete despite wearing a cast. Fatu wanted to face Charlie Dempsey at Halloween Havoc and suggested bringing back the Halloween Havoc wheel to determine their match stipulation.
- Sean Legacy discussed Dorian Van Dux's recovery backstage, while Chazz "Starboy" Hall provided an update on Mini Vikingo's injury. Saquon Shugars was watching footage on a tablet, leading to an argument with Legacy about Shugars holding himself back. EK Prosper agreed with Legacy, which further irritated Shugars.
- Emily Agard was waiting to interview Cruz Montana when DarkState's Osiris Griffin and Cutler James entered the locker room to confront him. A fight broke out, with Montana battling both men before his scheduled match against Dion Lennox.
- Naraku warned Shiloh Hill that he planned to use black mist against him at Halloween Havoc. Hill discussed the threat with Lizzy Rain backstage before Chantel Monroe interrupted them. Rain confronted Monroe over repeatedly annoying everyone backstage and challenged her to a match next week.
- Next week's NXT will feature both Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic semifinal matches, with Los Wagner Brothers facing Hank and Tank and The Vanity Project facing Noam Dar and Romeo Moreno, along with Jackson Drake defending the NXT North American Championship against EK Prosper.
- Cruz Montana vs Dion Lennox ended in a double count-out. The two continued fighting outside the ring, with Montana driving Lennox through the LED barricade. After the match was thrown out, Montana slammed Lennox onto the exposed concrete and attempted to use the steel steps against him. Cutler James intervened to protect Lennox and took the blow instead. Officials eventually restrained Montana as the show came to an end.
