Earlier this month, we heard that WWE had started mulling over options to leave the Amway Center in Orlando, despite extending their deal through November. While it was believed the company would remain in the "ThunderDome" for the rest of 2020, it's now looking like they'll actually leave on December 1st.
As you can see, the WrestleVotes Twitter account has revealed that, "WWE is set to leave the Amway Center by the 1st of December. Arenas in North Carolina, Texas & Illinois were discussed over the weekend. WWE needs to find a spot where NO team plays [and] able to house the weight & power requirements of the setup."
That's going to be easier said than done in the midst of a pandemic, but Vince McMahon's hopes to start holding shows in front of crowds are becoming increasingly less likely as time passes.
"A newer arena is preferred as the weight of the ThunderDome won’t work with older buildings," a follow-up Tweet reveals. "Also, a major travel hub is needed as talent will be flying in and out each week. Not the easiest combination of things to find."
Time will tell whether this pans out, but WWE is unlikely to be happy with these changes, especially if they were banking on the Amway Center being a permanent home for the foreseeable future.
