WWE's John Cena Is Adamant That He Did The Right Thing By Not Turning Heel Earlier In His Career

Even many of John Cena's most hardcore fans kinda wish the multi-time WWE Champion had dabbled in heel territory at some point, but the man himself doesn't believe in dwelling in the past. More past the jump...

The "should John Cena turn heel" debate has raged for years, but since it's highly unlikely that we'll see it happen this late in his career, it's very quickly becoming moot.

Still, it's probably going to be a subject that keeps on coming up long after Cena has retired, so what does the man himself think?

The multiple-time WWE Champ has commented on a potential heel turn before, of course, but when asked the million dollar question during a new interview with The Bleacher Report he seems to suggest - though never explicitly states - that even if he wanted to spend some time as bad guy, he was simply doing what the company asked of him.

“No. And I think that any sort of hindsight, especially in this industry, is a waste of time, and time is extremely valuable. I don’t control that. People ask me to do something, and it is our job, as entertainers, to do the best that we can to accomplish that goal. What I get upset about in this business is that so many people talk about the ‘what if,’ instead of the ‘what is.’ The ‘what is’ is more important. If someone were to go back 15 years and say, ‘You should have done this,’ it’s too late. I was told to do ‘X,’ and I was trying to do ‘X’ the best way that I could.”

Nobody would argue that Cena has done a terrific job with X, but the thing is, a large portion of his fanbase wanted him to do Y - regardless of what Vince McMahon though was "best for business."

What do you guys think? Any chance we'll ever see that heel turn? Sound off below.
