Bryan Danielson recently turned heel, and it's clear the American Dragon is a vastly different character and pro wrestler to the Daniel Bryan fans remember in WWE. Many continue to wonder which company he'll choose to end his career with, and during a recent interview with Busted Open Radio, the former WWE Champion shed some light on that.
"I honestly feel like right now, I’m the best version of myself that I’ve ever been," Danielson admitted. "I’ve learned a lot in my 10 plus years in WWE. I honestly feel like in some ways I’m actually a little bit of a better athlete now because of the way that I train and all that kind of stuff than I was even when I was 30. I feel like mentally and physically, I’m the best that I’ve ever been"
As for how long he'll be part of AEW, Danielson added: "I signed a three year contract with AEW. I consider these kind of like my final three years as a full time wrestler, but also, not just like, ok, this me winding down. This to me is the peak. This is going to be the best that I’m ever going to be in ending my full time career at that, ending it as the best version of myself."
So, we could see him to continue to wrestle once his first AEW contract is done, but it sounds like he won't be making a decision about where to head next until much, much nearer the time.
That makes sense, to be honest, especially when the landscape of pro wrestling will have likely changed massively again three years from now (three years ago, there was no AEW for Danielson to go to). Do you think he should return to WWE to end his career or remain "All Elite"?
