The King of New York returns to Rampage!

At Final Battle, Chris Jericho defended the ROH World Championship against Matt Cardona and the 54-year-old managed to escape the Hammerstein Ballroom with his belt thanks to The Learning Tree. Being in a festive mood, Chris Jericho decided to challenge Anthony Bowens to a non-title match on this week’s episode of Rampage.

This comes after a Collision segment involving Big Boom AJ, Justice, and Bowens. Chris Jericho did his usual thing of being a jerk to the social media personalities, but backed down when Bowens asked him for a match.

This will be the first time since July that Chris Jericho competes on AEW Rampage. Then, Jericho and Big Bill beat The Outrunners in less than four minutes. It should be interesting to see how this match goes as Jericho doesn’t have much to do on AEW television.

Tonight’s episode of Ring of Honor will paint a better picture on who will challenge for the ROH World title. Originally, it was supposed to be Bandido and given his return last Friday then it was clearly the direction they were heading. Unfortunately, Bandido suffered a concussion and is forced to sit on the sidelines for a little while. Could Anthony Bowens end up becoming a challenger for the ROH World Championship? We’ll surely find out this Friday.

But Chris Jericho won’t be the only champion fighting at The New Year’s Smash Event as AEW World Tag Team Champions Private Party will also be in action Friday. Lio Rush and Action Andretti are still confirmed as the No. 1 contenders for the tag team titles and the champs are racking up wins to keep their momentum going. The final Rampage (at least for the foreseeable future) is shaping up nicely.

Below is the advertised line-up for the final episode AEW Rampage:

  • Chris Jericho vs. Anthony Bowens.
  • AEW World Tag Team Champions Private Party in action
  • Thunder Rosa vs. Leila Grey
  • Nick Wayne vs. Hook
