Tay Melo is officially back!

The AEW star recently hinted at an in-ring return when she posted a picture of her training with Sammy Guevara and Kenny Omega. Now, the 29-year-old finally has a date for her return: January 3, 2025. The proud mother shared the great news on her social media that she would be going overseas to have her first match in two years.

Tay is scheduled to team with Mina Shirakawa to take on ROH Women’s World Champion Athena and STARDOM’s Thekla. The show is scheduled to take place at the Tokyo Garden Theater and can be seen on the promotion’s streaming service, STARDOM World.

Her last match was at Wrestlefest XXVII on March 3, 2023. Tay and Sammy beat Encore & Tiara James. Her last AEW match was a Street Fight with Anna Jay against Ruby Soho & Willow Nightingale in January of that same year.

It’s good to see Tay Melo back as she was vastly improved before her pregnancy. It’ll be interesting to see if she added new moves to her repertoire and how she’s developed since her previous stint. Tay isn’t the only one going overseas as her husband will be wrestling inside of the Tokyo Dome two days later.

The Sons of Texas (Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara) will defend The ROH World Tag Team titles against House of Torture (SHO & Yoshinobu Kanemaru). So it’ll be a busy weekend for the Guevara family.

In terms of an AEW return, nothing has been confirmed just yet. Then again, with her husband working in Ring of Honor, it wouldn’t be too surprising if Tay Melo ended up there are well. The women’s division is quite underrated as there’s some solid character work and great matches happening down there, so it could be beneficial for the AEW star to work in ROH. This is all speculation as there's no word on where Tay Melo could end up on the roster.

Tay’s journey started back in May and it’s great to see that the young star is healthy and ready to go. Hopefully, she’s brought back into the women’s division in a meaningful way.
