A special Christmas Day edition of AEW Rampage aired on TNT last night and the show was headlined by Cody Rhodes challenging Sammy Guevara for the TNT Championship.

It was an intense back and forth bout, but in the closing moments it was Cody who managed to earn the win. Securing the 1-2-3 wasn't easy, though, as it took two Cross-Rhodes' in a row and a Tiger Driver '98 to finally put Sammy down. As you might expect, the crowd wasn't happy and boos filled the building as Rhodes celebrated with his newly won title.

Dustin and Brandi Rhodes hit the ring to celebrate with the new TNT Champion and David Crocket presented Cody with his new title as the show went off the air.

Fans remain desperate to see Cody turn heel, but if that is going to happen, AEW is taking its time (likely to ensure fans hate him as much as possible before he drops his babyface persona). After all, that would ensure those same fans don't then start to cheer the heel AEW Vice President.
