Preview & Predictions for AEW WrestleDream 2026:
On tap for WrestleDream, AEW World Champion Will Ospreay defends his championship in the first-ever eight-man Clockwork Carnage Match against Samoa Joe, "Speedball" Mike Bailey, Darby Allin, Kazuchika Okada, Konosuke Takeshita, Adam Copeland and Ricochet. I can't imagine Ospreay is dropping his title any time soon, let alone in a match like this, unless there is some wild idea of protecting him by having him lose on a technicality with the points system, but even that is something I would put at virtually a guarantee not to happen.
The same effectively goes for how Persephone could lose the TBS Championship in her four-way against Queen Aminata, Dani Luna, and Hyan. Could she lose without being pinned? Sure. Will she? I doubt it.
AEW Women's World Champion Mercedes Mone defends against Thekla, while AEW World Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks face the Don Callis Family's Kyle Fletcher and Kevin Knight. Swerve Strickland and The New Level defend the AEW World Trios Championship against "Hangman" Adam Page and Brodido (Brody King and Bandido) in a Two Out of Three Falls Match. AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley battles Mark Davis, while AEW National Champion Andrade El Idolo defends against Tommaso Ciampa. Regarding all of those titles, I think each one of them is staying exactly where they are.
Also announced for WrestleDream, Chris Jericho and Nick Wayne will meet in a rubber match, with Jericho agreeing to apologize to Wayne in the ring if Wayne defeats him. Hopefully, Wayne wins, since he has the most to gain and Jericho does not need this win in the slightest bit. Meanwhile, the previously scheduled AEW Women's World Tag Team Championship match between The Brawling Birds and Wrathlander has been canceled due to Jamie Hayter being unable to compete because of an injury.
On the WrestleDream Saturday Tailgate Brawl pre-show, FTR faces the Motor City Machine Guns in the opening match of a best-of-five series between the two teams. Sisters of Sin (Julia Hart and Skye Blue) will also battle Divine Dominion (Megan Bayne and Lena Kross) in tag team action. Flip a coin on the FTR and MCMG match, and I don't really see the point in the Divine Dominion winning again over Blue and Hart as that would just lead them toward yet another match against The Brawling Birds, but that feud should be over with.
