Cody Rhodes Says That "Tony Khan Was Adamant" He Not Hit That Moonsault From The Top Of The Steel Cage

Cody Rhodes hitting that moonsault from the top of a Steel Cage during last week's All Elite Wrestling: Dynamite made for an awesome sight, but it's also a spot which has been widely criticised. That because it was both extremely dangerous and the sort of move which has left someone like Kurt Angle in the poor health he's in today.

Now, during an interview with Sports Illustrated, Rhodes has revealed that a number of people backstage tried to talk him out of it, including AEW President Tony Khan!

"I thought about it all day," he admits. "Tony Khan was adamant that I didn’t do it. I’ve never seen a boss like him and how he leads, and the way he cares about his investments. Too many people were trying to talk me out of it. Typically, I’m by the ‘Go position’ during our show, but I stayed away."

Rhodes did ultimately hit the move and nothing went wrong, but just like the chair shot to the head that sliced him open, it will be interesting seeing whether AEW continues pulling off stunts like this on Dynamite each week or reduces them to ensure they maintain their impact...and to protect wrestlers.
