Jonathan Gresham is the new ROH Pure Champion!

Last week, one-half of the ROH World Tag Team Champions defeated Josh Woods to advance into the finals, with Williams pulling off a massive upset over former ROH World Champion Jay Lethal. The finals of the latest episode of Ring of Honor saw Gresham get the victory thanks to an Octopus Stretch.

The 32-year-old managed to outlast Matt Sydal, Dalton Castle, Fred Yehi, David Finlay, and PJ Black to become the new ROH Pure Champion for the first time in nearly 15 years. The 16-man tournament effectively ends the company’s focus on the prestigious belt and the returns of ROH World Champion RUSH and ROH World Television Champion Dragon Lee are expected at the upcoming tapings.

This past week's ROH also saw former TNA World Heavyweight Champion EC3 finally make his debut alongside The Briscoes to take on Shane Taylor and “SOS” Moses and Kaun. Unfortunately, the trio ended up losing to the former ROH World Television Champion and his crew as Taylor pinned Mark Briscoe with his finisher.
