If you haven’t heard by now, Jon Moxley is officially a new member of All Elite Wrestling:
The former WWE Champion made his debut after the main event of Kenny Omega vs. Chris Jericho, with the latter winning the match-up with his new finisher, The Judas Effect. Jericho then trashed the fans after the match was said and done, and Moxley appeared from the crowd during the former IWGP Intercontinental champion’s rant. Once Jericho turned around, he was nailed with Dirty Deeds.
However, the other important moment was Moxley and Omega brawling up the AEW arena. The segment strongly teased a feud between the former WWE champion and the former IWGP Heavyweight champion and according to Dave Meltzer, it is indeed the plan.
The wrestling journalist also states Moxley’s position within the company, as he’s expected to treated as a top star in AEW going forward (transcript courtesy of wrestletalk):
“He’s basically going to be a weekly television character so it’s not like he’s going to be doing a few shows a year [for AEW]. He’s weekly part of their thing and right in the mix. They pretty much established to me when the show was over in the singles division it’s Cody, Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho, and Jon Moxley and Adam Page are gonna be the big five and if Pac comes back he may end up close to that.”
It's been confirmed that Moxley has signed a full-time, multi-year contract with the promotion
. Moxley will have his debut match for AEW at Fyter Fest next month. His opponent at this time is not known at the moment.
