Invicta FC will try to crown a new atomweight champion on Sept 17.

Back in February, former Invicta Atomweight Champion Jinh Yu Frey was stripped of the belt due to missing weight by 0.8 pounds. She was set to defend the title against Ashley Cummins at the Invicta FC 39 event. Both women still competed at the show, with Cummins still eligible to win the belt; however, Frey managed to score a unanimous decision victory, thus keeping the belt vacant.

With Frey now over in the UFC, Ashley Cummins and Alesha Zappitella will fight for the opportunity to become the Invicta FC Atomweight champion in Kansas City on Sept. 17. Since her Invicta FC debut in 2017, Cummins has managed to get three impressive wins within the promotion thus far. Zappitella enters in the midst of a two-fight winning streak, with the 25-year-old holding four strong victories in the promotion thus far.

The title match headlines a show that features a co-main event that will see Lisa Verzosa and Raquel Canuto collide. Check out the advertised line-up below:
